About Istanbul – OIC Youth Capital 2015 – 2016

Istanbul – OIC Youth Capital 2015-2016 is a program designed both for the city and for Turkey. Istanbul, hosting the 2nd General Assembly of ICYF was elected as the first OIC Youth Capital of 2015/16 with the vote of foreign ministers of 56 member states of OIC. Cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

Aims of Istanbul – OIC Youth Capital 2015 – 2016

  • Introduce Istanbul, the cradle of civilizations sheltering Ottoman cultural heritage
  • Foreground the significance of Istanbul in terms of having a symbolic significance in inter-cultural and inter-civilizational dialogue
  • Present the vision of Istanbul in international platforms through the outcomes of the activities such as the photography and short-film contests, essay competitions and calligraphy workshops
  • Reflect the soul of Istanbul through the sense of productivity, dynamism, energy and synergy of youth
  • Emphasise the importance of tolerance, hospitality, dialogue and sportsmanship through the tournaments which will be hosted in Istanbul
  • Finally, present “10 Goals in 10 Years” Istanbul Youth Declaration (adopted by the in 2nd General Assembly of ICYF in 2014 and OIC Foreign Ministers Council in 2015) calling upon the world leaders, decision-makers and all stake-holders to achieve the critical goals for the development of Muslim youth
