Scout Conference on Sustainable Environment

Bangladesh announces the call for applications from the prospective participants in the “Scout Conference for Sustainable Environment” as part of its yearlong festivities of “Dhaka, OIC Youth Capital 2020”. The theme of the conference is “Sustaining the positive environmental changes that took place during the COVID 19 pandemic”. There have been significant changes in the environment when the pandemic hit the world and most of them are positive. It is important for us to keep this positive impact and also come up with sustainable solutions to living harmoniously with the environment.

Objectives

  • Enlighten the community about the positive changes in the environment due to the pandemic
  • Bringing the scouts of the OIC nations together to come up with sustainable solutions regarding the environment
  • Bringing awareness to the scout about the importance of living harmoniously with the environment
  • Giving the participants a sense of what can be done on an individual level to change the environment and make it better
  • The talked about the initiatives can be adopted by the nations to the best practices of environment preservation

Program Elements

  • Keynote speakers of the World Scout will be giving their talks
  • Cases will be provided to the participants for coming up with sustainable solutions
  • Top 10 cases will be presented in front of the judges
  • The top 10 ideas will be shared among all the participants
  • The top 3 ideas will be shared among the World Scout programs

Program Format and Timeline

  • The program will be a combination of theoretical and interactive sessions via zoom.
  • Timeline: 22 – 25 February 2021

Certificate

Full attended participants will be awarded a verified certificate issued by the Bangladesh Government, ICYF and World Scout

Prize Money

Based on the evaluation of the submitted policy paper and the engagements of the participants during the virtual session, prize money will be awarded.

  3. 2nd Runner Up: 750 USD

WHO CAN APPLY?

  • Citizen of the OIC Member States or representative of a Muslim community in a non-OIC Member State
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Well conversant in digital technology with good internet connectivity.
  • Aged between 18–35
  • Interested in social works.
  • Interested in environmental science and technology

SELECTION

Selection Committee will evaluate the applications based on eligibility and criteria if the committee decides for further information can set an online interview as the last stage of selection.

Selected participants will receive an email confirmation containing online program details. Due to a tight schedule, there will be not an opportunity to inform those who are not selected. The general information on selection results will be posted at the ICYF website and social media accounts.

Voluntary Camp

The year 2020 has been a very challenging year for all of us, mostly because of the global pandemic we are going through. During this time a lot of Volunteer Organizations all over the world has taken some magnificent initiatives and those initiatives can actually make handling this pandemic better for a lot of nations. By this event we want to bring those initiatives up so that everyone can follow them and make themselves and others sustain in this challenge.

Objective

  • The theme is COVID-19, as dealing with it is the 1st priority of every nation currently
  • Bringing innovative ideas up front about dealing with COVID-19
  • Passing the knowledge worldwide
  • Acknowledging the breakthrough ideas

Program Elements

  • Volunteer Organizations from the OIC countries will apply and demonstrate their ideas briefly using the registration form
  • Registration forms will be uploaded in the website
  • An organization with the best idea from each country will be shortlisted for the next phase
  • Organizations will choose an individual to represent them
  • Shortlisted candidates will make a case based on their idea
  • Individuals representing their organizations will present their case in front of the judges during the final conference and the judges will pick a winner and the runner ups

Program Format & Timeline

  • Award will be presented according to the set benchmarks
  • The final conference will be taking place in “Zoom”
  • The event will last from 30th November, 2020 to 8th December, 2020
  • Registration will last from 24th November, 2020 to 27th November, 2020
  • The final conference will be held on 7th December, 2020 and 8th December, 2020

All the attended participants will be awarded with Certification from both Bangladesh Government & ICYF

  • Organizations will have to pitch ideas only regarding the COVID-19 crisis
  • Participants must be from 18 to 35 years old for both genders
  • Participation is allowed to the people of OIC Member States or representatives of Islamic communities in other countries.
  • The participant must adhere to the event’s regulations and procedures as stated by the organizing committee
  • Form will only be accepted in English.

Holy Quran Recitation Competition

Bangladesh announces the call for applications from the prospective participants in the Holy Quran Recitation competition as part of its yearlong festivities of “Dhaka, OIC Youth Capital 2020”. The competition will be done fully on a digital platform where the participants will be uploading their videos of reciting the Holy Quran and it will be judged by expert panelists. The recitations will be displayed online after every round and the finals of the competition will be shown live.

Objectives

  • This event is to spread the message of the Quran through the participation of the youth
  • This event will be held with the motto of creating a community where the like-minded youth who are interested in religion to gather together
  • The event will create a positive impact in the community about the Quran
  • The event aims to break stereotypes regarding Islam and the Quran by going live with the competition

Program Elements

  • The interested participants will sign up for the competition with a short clip of them reciting the Quran. This will be considered as the preliminary round
  • The judges will pick the best ones and they will go on to compete in the main rounds
  • The videos will be posted online for the people to see
  • The final will be featured live on various web platforms
  • The Ayat that will be recited will be more focused around peace, prosperity and good health

  • The program will be a combination of Facebook Live and digital exhibition.
  • Timeline: 23 – 17 April 2021

Closing Ceremony

OIC will end with a closing ceremony which will take place in 22nd May, 2021. The whole summary of Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020 will be stated there with the reaction of the even. Also the future plan and expectations of OIC Youth Capital will be mentioned.

The closing ceremony will be consisting video messages of the respective guests

  • This will be a live program with all the esteemed guests and delegates from all the OIC Nations.

Key Handover for OIC Dhaka Youth Capital

Key handover ceremony was held with the participation of H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al-Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports of Qatar, H.E. Zahid Ahsan Russel, Minister of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh, and H.E. Taha Ayhan, President of ICYF, at the closing ceremony of the Doha – OIC Youth Capital. The Key to Doha – OIC Youth Capital was presented to Mr. Zahid Ahsan Russel for the newly selected OIC Youth Capital – Dhaka 2020.

Tree Planting event was held in Doha, OIC Youth Capital 2019

“The Planting Trees” event was organized as a part of the Doha OIC Youth Capital 2019 by The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Qatar, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment of Qatar and ICYF on Saturday with the participation of H.E. Mr Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports, H.E. Mr Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Municipality and Environment, Mr. Rasul Omarov, Director General of ICYF, ambassadors representing OIC Countries, and students from OIC member states studying in Qatar.

During the event 56 trees dedicated to each member of the OIC states have been planted by the young participants from OIC countries. The event was intended to commemorate Doha’s hosting of the activities of Doha OIC Youth Capital 2019, to emphasize the value of planting in the Islamic religion, and to achieve institutional partnerships between ministries. After a year of hosting diverse events to inspire Muslim youth from countries around the world, the closing ceremony of the Doha OIC Youth Capital 2019 will be held on Thursday, 16 January with the attendance of representatives from the OIC Member States.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports announces the winners of Doha Youth Innovation Award (Photography Category)

The Ministry of Culture and Sports has announced the winners of ‘Doha Youth Innovation Award’ , which is open to all young people from the Islamic world in the field of photography.

The award was launched last summer, in cooperation with Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum in collaboration with the Visual Arts Center, Doha Film Institute and the Youth Hobbies Center and the organization of the Qatar Cultural and Heritage Events Center.

The winners of the photography competition, (Islamic Values category), are Sultan Ahmed Nilwi from Bangladesh in first place, followed by Jihad Muhammad Idriss from Yemen, Nada Mohammed Wadi from Jordan; Ghazi Muhammad Jahirul Islam from Bangladesh; Rabi Adamu Sufi from Nigeria, and Muhammad Ali Shida from Afghanistan.

In the ‘Youth and Success Stories’ category, the first winner is Muhammad Nazmul Khan from Bangladesh , then Youssef Loulaidi from Morocco, followed by Ali bin Hamad Al Ghaferi from Oman and Mukti Ali Asyadzili from Indonesia.

On the topic of “Our Islamic Heritage”, Ahmed Asif Sami from Bangladesh won the first place, then Muhammad Raziqiya from Algeria, Porco Emctar from Turkey, and Anas Muhammad Al theeb from the Sultanate of Oman respectively.

Abdulaziz Al Kubaisi, head of the photography section at the Youth Hobbies Center, said in a statement that the arbitration process in the photography category went through several stages, including the administrative screening, which was assumed by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and the second step was technical screening  and carried out by the Youth Hobbies Center, then the final arbitration which continued for a week and includes more than one step .

The jury members committee consisted of members belonging to the Youth Hobbies Center and others who have a long experience in this regard  and  winners of local and international awards, Al Kubaisi pointed out, adding that the Youth Hobbies Center was the one which drafted the technical conditions for the photography competition and presented it to the Ministry.

Regarding the level of participation  in the award, the president of the jury expected to be better, but in general it was average if it was taken into account that those who applied for the award ranged between beginners and professionals, pointing out at the same time that in order to reach Professional photo, the participant should posses an expensive  materials in the photography which is not available to everyone, in addition to being familiar with the basics and have an artistic taste in taking pictures.

Al Kubaisi expressed his hope that this competition to be annually adopted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in order to highlight local and Arab talents and develop them.

The Award, which is part of Doha QIC Youth Capital 2019,  aims at developing the spirit  of innovation and creativity among young people in various scientific, literary and artistic fields and moving away from stalemate and calcification in thinking and planning, providing an appropriate environment for creative youth to highlight innovative  efforts.

Distinguished participants in the Doha Youth Camp for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work

Distinguished Youth from the Muslim world praise what they have learned in Qatar

Thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Sports for providing such opportunity

DOHA: The Ministry of Culture and Sports has selected the distinguished participants in the ‘Doha Youth Camp for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work’ activity.

The event was held on October 27 and continued till November 6 with a wide participation of youth from 53 countries, under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The Camp organised in collaboration with Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum as part of the ‘Doha – OIC Youth Capital 2019’ activities under the motto ‘The Youth is the Power of Nation.’

The six youth who were chosen among them three men and three women.

The names of the distinguished youth are Muhammad Al Barbari from Palestine; Yusuf Diallo from Senegal; Moussa Sawaneh from Gambia; Hanan Abdul Wahid Abdul Rahman from Qatar; Eslem Gunaydin from Turkey; and Najia Muhammad Al Shandudi from Oman.

The distinguished participants will be honored in a big ceremony organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports next January as part of the ‘Doha – OIC Youth Capital 2019’ activities, aimed at developing the capacities of Muslim youth in the field of relief and disaster management.

The youth who were selected expressed their happiness to participate in the Camp and confirmed their great benefit from it.

“Our participation in the camp came out of our belief in our active role in moving our communities and adopting our local issues, especially with the growing global challenges linked in the humanitarian scene around the Islamic world, which increase in the number of humanitarian needs such as climate change, wars and crises,” said Hanan Abdul Wahid Abdul Rahman.

For her part, Al Shandudi said that ‘Doha Youth Camp for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work’ activity was launched from a basic idea, which is the value of man in societies, and the importance of the role of youth in the fields of giving, and altruism.

We should highlight the importance of the role that young people play towards their society, which promotes the motto ‘The Youth is the Power of Nation.’, she added.

Al Shandudi pointed out that during the 10-day training period in the camp, several seminars, training courses and workshops were held on international law, codes of conduct for humanitarian response and other effective activities.

The Camp provided us with the opportunity as young participants to acquire a set of experiences in the field of volunteerism and humanitarian work. We express our sincere thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Sports and to all partners who have contributed to the success of this event.

Eslem Gunaydin commented that “I spent 11 days in Qatar through my participation in the “‘Doha Youth Camp for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work ” activity under the slogan ‘The Youth is the Power of Nation.’. I learned a lot about relief, disaster management, volunteering and humanitarian work from lectures and practical events, What I learned influenced me a lot, especially the part of the simulation of living refugee life in the camp.

Sawaneh from Gambia said that: “It is an honor to be among these distinguished youth and to present my point of view to the world by participating in the Doha camp. Thanks to those who believed in us and chose us among more than 7000 young men and women who came to participate in the camp.

“Thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Sports for allowing me participate in the most important experiences I have ever experienced in my life and the most exciting and scientific and practical experiences, I have learned and applied part of what I have learned and exchanged experiences with others from different countries of the world,” said Yusuf Diallo from Senegal.

I learned that change starts from the same person affecting those around him, I have seen young people who truly believe in their ability to change for the better, he added.

“I am very happy that we have an Islamic country like Qatar where there are those who care about the youth of the nation and work to hone their talents through projects and camps that contain practical and scientific aspects resulting in qualified young people, Diallo said.

Muhammad Al Barbari said that: “I never expected that I would visit 57 Islamic countries from around the world in just 11 days. My trip to these countries was not by plane, but through ‘Doha Youth Camp for Voluntary and Humanitarian Work, which aims to combine Islamic values ​​with the spirit of teamwork.

Al Barbari explained that everyone who participated in the Camp served as an ambassador to his country and worked together to provide the best we have to help the suffering people in the Islamic world, especially the areas suffering from conflicts. We have benefited from the visit of multiple institutions, which added to us a lot, and therefore we have to extend deep thanks to all those who contributed to the success of this Camp.
