OIC Youth Street Art Festival takes off under Fez OIC Youth Capital 2017 Programme

As part of the celebrations of Fez as OIC Youth Capital 2017, the “OIC Youth Street Art Festival” was launched on November 22, successfully organized by ICYF and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Morocco under the high patronage of the Kingdom of Morocco, with the participation of more than 50 local and international young poets, performers and artists.

Throughout the program, Youth showcased their talents, developed their skills and engaged with the expressive festival atmosphere to learn from leading artisans and performers while attending multiple workshops.

Speaking on behalf of ICYF, Ms. Tugba Ceren Cerci (Programme Coordinator of ICYF) delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of “OIC Youth Street Art Festival” during the workshops, encouraging youth to create constructive identities for themselves through creative expression, Islamic solidarity and civic engagement. At the end of the workshops young artists will perform a special show at the closing ceremony of Fez-OIC Youth Capital 2017, as an outcome of the three day festival.

Youth Entrepreneurship Pitching Session “ Islamic Countries Youth Entrepreneurship Network (ICYEN) : Innovation Means Employment” organized in Putrajaya

As part of the celebrations of Putrajaya as OIC Youth Capital 2017, the “Islamic Countries Youth Entrepreneurship Network (ICYEN): Innovation Means Employment” was successfully organized by ICYF and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Malaysia through the local National Youth Council (MBM) with the participation of 65 local and international youth entrepreneurs and leading investors.

Throughout the program, the majority of youth entrepreneurs focused on technology start-ups? while attending 3 start-up acceleration trainings and presenting their projects in pitching sessions. The successful start-ups of the pitching session were given the opportunity to be invited to the OIC Start-up Platfrom Online Training Program, starting in July 2018.

During the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Ahmet Halit Hatip, Director of International Programs, made a presentation about the OIC Start-up Platform, one of the 14 Joint Youth Action Plan activities approved by the 3rd Islamic Conference Youth and Sports Ministers, and further invited youth entrepreneurs to apply online to benefit from the opportunity of online trainings, mentorship, and investment.

Youth Entrepreneurship Pitching Session “ Islamic Countries Youth Entrepreneurship Network (ICYEN): Innovation Means Employment” successfully held in Putrajaya

As part of the celebrations of Putrajaya as OIC Youth Capital 2017, the “Islamic Countries Youth Entrepreneurship Network (ICYEN): Innovation Means Employment” was successfully convened by ICYF-DC and Ministry Youth and Sports of Malaysia through the local National Youth Council (MBM) with the participation 65 local and international youth entrepreneurs and leading investors.

At the Closing Ceremony, the winners of the ICYEN Pitching Session Start-ups received cash prizes handed by respectively H.E. Dato’ Lokman Hakim Bin Ali, Secretary General of Ministry of Youth and Sports of Malaysia, Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Director General of Youth Policy, Education & Training of ICYF-DC, Ahmet Halit Hatip, Director of International Programs.

Uluslararası Kur’an-ı Kerim Okuma Yarışması

Uluslararası Kur’an-ı Kerim Okuma Yarışması – İran’da düzenlenen Uluslararası Kur’an-ı Kerim Okuma Yarışması’nda hafızlık ve kıraat kategorilerinde Türkiye’den Faruk Şahin ile Enes Abdullah Görgülü birinci seçildi İSTANBUL (AA) – İslam Konferansı Diyalog ve İşbirliği Gençlik Forumu (İKGF-Dİ) ve İran Gençlik Spor Bakanlığı iş birliği ile İran’ın Şiraz şehrinde Uluslararası Kur’an-ı Kerim Okuma Yarışması düzenlendi.

İKGF-Dİ’den yapılan açıklamaya göre, Şiraz İslam Dünyası Gençlik Başkenti programı kapsamında 30 Ekim-1 Kasım tarihleri arasında düzenlenen yarışmaya Türkiye’nin de aralarında bulunduğu 17 İslam ülkesinden 56 genç katıldı. Yarışma, hafızlık ve kıraat kategorilerinde yapıldı.

– Birinciler Türkiye’den

Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı Kıraat Kurulu Başkanı Hafız Osman Şahin’in jüri üyesi olarak katıldığı yarışmada hafızlık kategorisinde birinci Türkiye’den Faruk Şahin, ikinci İran’dan Navid Razmjoul, üçüncü Somali’den Said Jeilani Hasan oldu.

Kıraat kategorisinde ise birinci Türkiye’den Enes Abdullah Görgülü, ikinci Azerbaycan’dan İlkin Aliyev, üçüncü Malezya’dan Mohommad Bin Ahmad Zahid oldu.

Programa onur konuğu olarak katılan İstanbul Müftüsü Prof. Dr. Hasan Kamil Yılmaz programı düzenleyen İKGF-Dİ’ye teşekkür ederek şunları kaydetti:

“İslam alemi olarak Kur’an’ın bizlere öğrettiği hikmet, adalet ve rahmeti kaybettiğimiz an toplumsal kaosa kapı aralayacağımızı unutmamamız gerekir. Yüce Allah’ın eşsiz mucizesi aramızda ve bizden ilgi beklemektedir. Kulluğumuzu bu eşsiz mucizeye göre şekillendirmemiz gerekir.”

İslam İşbirliği Teşkilatı 3. Gençlik ve Spor Bakanları Konferansı kararları çerçevesince, İKGF-Dİ tarafından düzenlenen İslam Dünyası Gençlik Başkenti uluslararası programında, ilk başkent 2016 yılında İstanbul seçilmişti. 2017 yılında İran’ın Şiraz, Fas’ın Fes ve Malezya’nın Putrajaya şehirleri seçilirken 2018 yılı İslam Dünyası Gençlik Başkenti, Kudüs olarak belirlendi.

Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), an international organization affiliated to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), announces the call for application for the Shiraz OIC Youth Capital 2017 – Fine Arts Festival & Islamic Calligraphy Workshop issued by the hosts of the “Shiraz – OIC Youth Capital 2017” international programme. The Workshop aiming to bring together young calligraphers from the OIC geography will be held in the city of Shiraz, Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), on 17th  – 19th  December, 2017.

Main Objectives of the Workshop:

  • Highlighting the necessity of development among the OIC Youth the art of Calligraphy.
  • Supporting young calligraphers from the OIC Geography.

Main Information and Details:

  1. The calligraphy workshop is open to all youth from the OIC Member States and Muslim minorities of the non-member states, aged between 18 and 35.
  2. Participation is free of charge.
  3. The hosts will cover transportation and accommodation expenses for the successful applicants.
  4. On the first day, 17 December 2017, there will be lectures on the theories of Islamic Calligraphy and also the characteristics of Iranian Calligraphy.
  5. On the second day, 18 December 2017, the calligraphers should produce calligraphy works under the direct supervision of Iranian calligraphers and professors and the produced works will be put on display on the same day.
  6. On the third day, 19 December 2017, the calligraphers will receive a Participation Certificate in the Grand Closing Ceremony of Shiraz-OIC Youth Capital 2017.

YOUTH FORUM FOR THE PREVENTION OF EXTREMISM AND VIOLENCE

Fez – OIC Youth Capital 2017

Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), an international organization affiliated to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), announces the call for application for the Fez –OIC Youth Capital 2017, Youth Forum for the Prevention of Extremism and Violence issued by the hosts of the “Fes– OIC Youth Capital 2017” international programme. The Festival aiming to bring together young artists from the OIC geography and beyond will be held in the city of Fez, Kingdom of Morocco, on 22-23 November, 2017.

Main Objectives:

The Forum is an opportunity to meet and interact with leading youth from various OIC countries to work on the concepts related to volunteering and the various approaches that are effective in preventing extremism and violence, through workshops and seminars with specialists.

  1. To support the development of young people sensitive to global and social issues, capable of contributing society and humanity and to empower young people with leadership qualities.
  2. To enable young people to think about “Youth Forum for the Prevention of Extremism and Violence” and exchange ideas on these matters and find solutions for them and to make a contribution to establishing a fundamentally more equitable and peaceful world.
  3. To enable young people to gain new experiences by improving their sense of solidarity and cooperation.
  4. To establish youth networks and platforms.

The Format and Programme Details

The 2 days forum programme is expected to bring young people together to contribute to the success of the event and discuss about youth volunteerism & preventing extremism and violence. The programme will be a combination of;

  • First plenary session and workshops
  • Workshops and group work
  • Second plenary session and workshops
  • Cultural City Tour

Application and Selection Process

The final selection will be made by the organizing team according to the criteria described below;

  • To be a citizen of the OIC Member States or representative of Muslim community in non-OIC Member States;
  • Able to speak English;
  • Aged 18-30;
  • Involved in/coordinated any innovative youth social project,
  • Active in community services,
  • Motivated to attend the full duration;

“OIC Youth Street Art Festival” is considered as an international art exhibition, for the benefit of Muslim Youth.  The Festival will provide a platform where young people experience different cultures and values and also demonstrate their artistic expressions in writing, graffiti, music and physical expression.

  1. To raise awareness of young people towards our prevalent values, history, culture and civilization and to reunite them under a common vision of future.
  2. To enable young people to gain new experiences through art and improve their sense of solidarity and cooperation.

The Format and Programme Details

The 2 days international programme is expected to bring young people together to contribute to the success of the event and explore different cultures. The programme will be a combination of;

  • Professional singing and musical arts
  • Professional dance and performing arts

Participants are allowed (if desired) to bring their traditional clothes and  authentic national items to be showed among participants and other attendees of the Festival.

Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), an international organization affiliated to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), announces the call for application for the Shiraz OIC Youth Capital 2017 – Fine Arts Festival & The  1st Short Story Contest issued by the hosts of the “Shiraz – OIC Youth Capital 2017” international programme. The Contest aiming to bring together young writers from the OIC geography and Award Ceremony will be held in the city of Shiraz, Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), on 19 December, 2017.

The Festival’s Main Objectives:

  • Expanding and valuing short stories.
  • Highlighting the necessity of the development of writing and publishing short stories in OIC Member States.
  • Supporting production and publication of short stories which revolve around Peace and Human Respect.

The Festival’s Policy:

Short stories, which meet the following requirements, may enter the festival’s competitive section:

  1. Short stories should be written Only in English Language and up to 1500 words.
  2. Short stories should be typed in Microsoft Word (Font: Times New Roman (Headings CS), Size: 14)
  3. Short stories should be sent in the format of DOC file and via this email (syz.icyf.story@gmail.com) to the secretariat of the festival. Please also take note that all the participants should fill out a participation application form and attach it to their email. It is obvious that completing the form means that the participant is the writer of the short story and if any legal claim is filed against it, he/she will bear the responsibility and that the festival carries no responsibility for the rights regarding the ownership of short stories.
  4. Subjects of Peace and Human-Moral Values constitute the salient and main axes of the festival.
  5. Defective files and/or formats other than those mentioned here will not be included in the best work selection phase.

Awards:

The First-Rank Winner: $1000 Cash prize

The Second-Rank Winner: $700 Cash prize

The Third-Rank Winner: $500 Cash prize

General Regulations for Participation in the Festival:

  1. The festival is open to all youth of OIC Member States and beyond between the ages of 18 and 35.
  2. Participation is open to public and free of charge.
  3. Short stories ascending to the final stage of the contest will receive a Participation Certificate.
  4. There is no limitation on the number of works to be submitted.
  5. The festival’s secretariat bears no responsibility towards damages to works due to failed submission on the part of participants.
  6. After the short stories are submitted to the festival, they cannot be excluded from it.
  7. It is the secretariat’s task to adopt final decisions as regards unexpected cases, which are not included in the present regulations, or obscurities resulted from its content as well as making changes in some of them.
  8. Completion of participation application form means all the regulations are accepted by the participants.
  9. The process of sending short stories to the secretariat is one-staged and submitted files are directly and unchangeably judged.
  10. The works may not be changed or re-sent at all.
  11. No award will be presented to two or more works with similar values.
  12. The presence of selected writer or his/her representative at the closing ceremony is required to pay homage to the festival and receive the award.
  13. The secretariat of festival shall bear the complete costs of round-trip tickets and accommodation of the final winners to participate in award ceremony.

Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), an international organization affiliated to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), announces the call for application for the Shiraz OIC Youth Capital 2017, Y – SHIRAZ 2nd OIC Youth Capital Film Festival issued by the hosts of the “Shiraz – OIC Youth Capital 2017” international programme. The Contest aiming to bring together young film makers from the OIC geography and Award Ceremony will be held in the city of Shiraz, Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), on 19 December, 2017.

The Festival’s Main Objectives:

  1. Expanding and valuing short films in three documentary, narrative (fictional) and animated forms.
  2. Highlighting the necessity of developing short films in Islamic countries.
  3. Supporting production of short films which revolve around Peace and Human Respect.

The Festival’s Main Parts:

Narrative (Fictional) Short Films Contest

Narrative short films, which meet the following requirements, may enter the festival’s competitive section:

  • The film’s running time: short films with running time ranging from 100 seconds to 15 minutes may be involved in the festival.
  • The applicants for participation in the festival should fill in a registration form. It is obvious that completing the form means that the participant is the owner of the film and if any legal claim is filed against it, he/she will bear the responsibility and that the festival carries no responsibility for the rights regarding the ownership of films.
  • If a film contains dialogues, it is strongly suggested that English subtitle be included as the festival is not responsible for providing it.
  • Subjects of Peace and Human-Moral Values constitute the salient and main axes of the festival.
  • There is no limitation on the films’ techniques.

Animated Short Films Contest

Animated short films, which fulfill the following requirements, may enter the festival’s competitive section:

  • The film’s running time: short films with running time ranging from 100 seconds to 15 minutes may be involved in the festival.

  • The applicants for participation in the festival should fill in a registration form. It is obvious that completing the form means that the participant is the owner of the film and if any legal claim is filed against it, he/she will bear the responsibility and that the festival carries no responsibility for the rights regarding the ownership of films.
  • If a film contains dialogues, it is strongly suggested that English subtitle be included as the festival is not responsible for providing it.
  • Subjects of Peace and Human-Moral Values constitute the salient and main axes of the festival.
  • There is no limitation on the films’ techniques.

Technical Requirements for Works:

Registration in the festival and uploading the films should be conducted through visiting this website (https://shirazoyc.com/en/filmawards). The works should be uploaded in the festival’s website for initial examination with qualities ranging from 480p to 720p, mp4 format and frame rate of 24fps. Please also take note that in case the film is selected to be exhibited in the festival, it should possess these features; quality and frame rate of 1080p and 30fps, respectively. Therefore, the filmmakers should prepare this format in advance. After uploading the films and filling out the registration form (personal information), the participants would receive a tracking code through an email.

Important Hint: Defective files and/or formats other than those mentioned here will not be included in the best work selection phase.

Important Hint: When submitting and uploading files, the film’s title should be written on its folder. Also, the registration code received from the website should be kept.

Important Hint: If your film is accepted at the final phase, all the complementary information including stage and backstage photos, director’s photos etc should be delivered to the secretariat.

Awards:

The Festival’s Best Film: The Festival’s Statue (Cypress Statue, the Symbol of Shiraz City) – Honorary Diploma- $1000 Cash prize

The Best Documentary Film: Honorary Diploma- $1500 Cash prize

The Best Narrative (Fictional) Film: Honorary Diploma- $1500 Cash prize

The Best Animated Film: Honorary Diploma- $1500 Cash prize

  13. The secretariat of film festival shall bear the complete costs of round-trip tickets and accommodation of international winners of each part in order to participate in award ceremony.
